Department of Mathematics and Physics organised inter collegiate university level quiz and seminar competition on the eve of National Science Day which is celebrated in entire country to mark the contribution of Indian physicist Sir C V Raman. Sir Raman had added a new theory in Physics in the year 1928. It is known as “Raman Effect” in the field of science. His research is considered globally. He was awarded with the prestigious Nobel Prize in 1930 for his discovery. In order to glorify this new research, various activities are implemented as National Science Day in India.
To justify this day, a quiz and seminar competition was organized for the students as an association by the Department of Mathematics and Physics. Students from various colleges of Gondwana University, Gadchiroli showed their interest in science by participating in these competitions. Students from various colleges in Gadchiroli and Chandrapur district participated in the quiz competition. Whereas, 15 students from different colleges participated in the discussion.
Team from Anand Niketan College of Warora won the first prize and the team Shivaji College of Rajura won the second prize in the quiz competition. In the seminar competition, the first, second and third prize was grabbed by Ms Megha Khaire from Ambedkar College, Ms Anjali Dhongade, Ms Pragati Suralkar from Shivaji College of Rajura respectively.
The program was inaugurated by Jayant Borkar, President of the Bhartiya Shikshan Sanstha, while Principal Dr Suresh Bakare greeted the program. The prizes were distributed by the hands of Mr Sadanand Borkar, secretary, Bhartiya Shikshan Sanstha. The whole event was conveyed by Ankosh Ramteke, Head Department of Mathematics and Bhaurao Balbudhe, Asst professor, Department of Physics proposed vote of thanks.
