The NSS Unit of Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawargaon, organized a Sickle Cell Anemia Screening Camp on 3 January 2025 as part of its commitment to promoting community health and welfare. The screening was conducted by Dr. Devendra Lingojwar, Project Director and Principal Investigator of the Sickle Cell Anemia Prevention Program, Chandrapur, and Mr. Md. Jakir Shaikh, Project Field Incharge and Coordinator of the same program. Their expertise ensured the camp’s efficiency and effectiveness in diagnosing Sickle Cell Anemia. They donated a Sickle Cell Anemia Detection kit, worth 1.5 lahks to the institution, for a continuation of such screening further.

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Amrut Lanje, Principal of the institution, who emphasized the significance of early detection and prevention of hereditary disorders like Sickle Cell Anemia and applauded the efforts of the NSS team and medical professionals.

A total of 213 beneficiaries, including students, staff, and community members, participated in the screening. The NSS volunteers actively supported the camp by managing registrations, assisting the medical team, and ensuring the smooth operation of the event.

The event was compared by Ms. Pragati Atram and it was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Pustode, who expressed gratitude to Dr. Devendra Lingojwar, Mr. Md. Jakir Shaikh, Dr H B Meshram, NSS Program Officer (Sr Wing) and Mr Ravi Deulwar, NSS Program Officer, Jr Wing,  the NSS team, and all participants for their invaluable contributions to the camp’s success. The Sickle Cell Anemia Screening Camp was a significant initiative in raising awareness and providing early detection of this hereditary blood disorder. The program highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in fostering a healthier and more informed community.
