Complete Story

On 6th December 2025, the NSS Department of Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawargaon in collaboration with District AIDS Prevention and Control Cell, General Hospital, Chandrapur and Integrated Counseling and Testing Center, Rural Hospital, Sindewahi, organized a public awareness program on the topic of HIV/AIDS in the hall at 10 am on the occasion of World AIDS Day.

The program began with garlanding the portrait of Vishwaratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and greetings were paid. The program was guided by the chief guide and counselor of the program, Nyalewar Madam RH Sindewahi. He guided the students and staff present on the topic of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. He stated that AIDS is mainly spread in four ways, namely, unprotected physical intercourse, using the same syringe for multiple patients, if a pregnant woman is infected with AIDS, her baby and the blood of an AIDS-affected person is given to a normal person. He also told the symptoms of an AIDS patient and challenged the attendees that if they find such symptoms, they should get free HIV/AIDS testing done in the hospital.

The program was moderated and voted by Prof. Ravindra Deulwar. The program was attended by Tajne Madam, Laboratory Technician at Rural Hospital Sindewahi, Dr. Amrut Lanje, Principal of Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, National Service Scheme Program Officer Prof. Dr. Hemantkumar Meshram, Prof. Geeta Sonawane Madam and all the teaching and non-teaching staff.

Outcomes / Outputs of Activity

  1. Increased awareness and knowledge about HIV transmission, prevention, and treatment.
  2. Reduction in stigma, promoting acceptance and support for people living with HIV.
  3. More individuals come forward for testing, leading to early diagnosis and better treatment outcomes.
  4. Improved health-seeking behavior, including regular check-ups and adherence to treatment (ART).
