The bicentenary year of the historic Chavdar Lake, Mahad was celebrated with great enthusiasm and social awareness at Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawargaon on 13.04.2026 under the guidance of the Principal Dr. Amrut Lanje.

The Mahad Chavdar Lake holds a significant place in Indian social history. It became a symbol of equality when Dr. B. R. Ambedkar led the historic Mahad Satyagraha in 1927, asserting the right of marginalized communities to access public water resources. The bicentenary celebration provided an opportunity to remember this revolutionary movement and to inspire students to uphold democratic ideals.

The programme began with floral tribute and garlanding of Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Umesh Indurkar, HoD Zoology delivered an inspiring address explaining the historical background of the Mahad Satyagraha. The speaker emphasized that the movement was not merely about access to water but about human dignity, equality, and civil rights.

Faculty members delivered insightful speeches explaining the social transformation brought by the Chavdar Tale movement. Students actively participated by expressing their views, delivering speeches, and presenting cultural activities focused on social harmony and constitutional awareness.

On this occasion, the Preamble of the Indian Constitution was collectively recited, reaffirming the commitment towards social justice and equality. The programme was presided over by Principal Dr. Amrut Lanje, while Dr. Hemant Meshram conducted the programme and Pro. Durgesh Kshirsagar proposed the vote of thanks.

The event successfully created awareness among students about social equality and inspired them to uphold democratic and constitutional values in their daily lives. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
