The Department of Zoology, Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawargaon, in collaboration with the Entomology Research Forum, successfully organized a college-level Photo Competition on Moths & Butterflies on September 22, 2026. The competition was organized to encourage students from undergraduate and postgraduate streams to document local Moths & Butterflies, and appreciate biodiversity through photographic documentation.
The program commenced at 10:00 AM with the inauguration of the Photo Display Exhibition in the Department of Zoology. A total of 37 students actively submitted geotagged photographs printed on A4 format along with details of the local name, scientific name, and ecological significance of each captured species.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Manoj Thakare evaluated all 37 competition entries based on photo quality, geotag authenticity, taxonomic accuracy, and descriptive ecological significance also shared insight on student scientific involvement and evaluation metrics.
Three students rewarded with First Prize to Prathamesh Ballewar Cash Prize (₹500) + Memento, Second Prize to Avinash Kamdi Cash Prize (₹300) + Memento Third Prize Vishal Kokode Cash Prize (₹200) + Memento by the guest Dr D D Barsagade, Dr S S Bakare and Principal Dr A S Lanje. All the prizes sponsored by former principal Dr S S Bakare.
In addition to the competition prizes, a special felicitation ceremony was conducted to honor academic excellence to our CHB Ms Ashwini Zode was felicitated with a Special Memento for securing the 1st Merit Rank in B.Ed. from Gondwana University, Gadchiroli. The department and faculty members praised her outstanding achievement, which brought immense pride to the institution.
