Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawagaon’s National Service Scheme Department celebrated Mahatma Phule Jayanti in Pasayadan Hall of College on April 11th every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Jyotirao Govindrao Phule, a prominent social reformer, thinker, and educationist from Maharashtra, On the occasion of Amrut Varsh of the Bharatiya Shikshan Sanstha. Prof. V. D. Wakode was present as chief guest, told that, ‘He was born in 1827 in Pune. Mahatma Phule worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the marginalized sections of society, especially the lower castes and women. Along with his wife, Savitribai Phule, he started the first school for girls in India in 1848. He also founded the Satyashodhak Samaj in 1873 to promote social equality and fight against caste discrimination. Phule’s ideas and reforms laid the foundation for social justice in India. He is remembered for his fearless stand against untouchability, child marriage, and gender inequality. Mahatma Phule Jayanti is not just a celebration of his birth but also a reminder of the values of equality, education, and social reform that he stood for. His life continues to inspire generations to work towards a just and equal society. Principal Dr. Amrut Lanje was also present on this occasion. Dr. Hemantkumar Meshram NSS Programme officer proposed the vote of thank. This program was attended by senior and junior college students, professors as well as office staff of college.
