The Department of Zoology, Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawargaon successfully organized a Guest Lecture on “Butterfly diversity of central India with special reference to Vidarbha”. The program aimed to foster academic interest, scientific curiosity, and field-oriented learning among students.
Dr. U. S. Indurkar, Coordinator and Head of Department introduced Chief Guest Dr D D Barsagade, Ex-Professor & Head, P.G.T.D. Zoology, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur and his outstanding achievement also outlining the objectives of guest lecture. Dr. Barsagade delivered an enriching lecture on Butterfly diversity of central India. He elaborated on the crucial role of Butterfly in biological ecosystems, pollination, and soil health, entomological diversity and Butterfly bio-indicators in ecological monitoring. Applications of entomology in agricultural pest control and conservation of Butterfly in nature. Guest of Honor Dr. S. S. Bakare addresses with significance of butterflies to the students. Chairman Dr. A. S. Lanje, in his presidential address quote the importance of butterflies for nature.
The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by M Sc first year students Ms Anjali Narpache expressing appreciation to the guests, faculty members, and student.
