Objectives of Activity

  1. To commemorate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, the great leaders of India.
  2. To spread the message of truth, non-violence, simplicity, and patriotism among students.
  3. To inspire youth to follow the principles of Gandhian philosophy in daily life.
  4. To highlight Lal Bahadur Shastri’s ideals of discipline, honesty, and selfless service to the nation.
  5. To promote the values of “Swachhata,” “Ahimsa,” and “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” among students.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Department of Shri Dyanesh College organized various programs under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ fortnight. The concluding program of this fortnight was celebrated by celebrating the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri in the Pasayadan Hall of the college.

Dr. Dinkar Chaudhary, Head of the Department of Political Science, College of Arts and Commerce, Bhisi, was present as the speaker on the occasion. He guided on the topic of “Gandhi’s Thoughts and Today’s Era”. Chaudhary Sir expressed the priorities of Mahatma Gandhi in his eloquent speech. He asserted that Gandhiji’s thoughts are not limited to history only, but also guide today’s complex situations.

The chairman of the program, Principal Dr. Amrut Lanje, appealed to the students to actively participate in social work through his presidential guidance. He asserted that this day is a reminder of “truth and service-oriented leadership”.

The program was conducted, introduced by NSS Program Officer Dr. Hemant Meshram. Ravindra Deulwar also proposed the vote of thanks for the program.

The program was attended by professors of senior and junior colleges, office staff and a majority of students.

Outcomes / Outputs of Activity

  1. Students gained deeper understanding of the lives and contributions of Gandhi and Shastri.
  2. Participants were motivated to practice values like non-violence, unity, and simplicity.
  3. Awareness about cleanliness, self-reliance, and rural development increased among students.
  4. The celebration fostered a sense of patriotism and national pride.
