NSS Annual Residential Camp Report 2024-25

The theme of the annual residential camp 2024-25 was “Youth for India and Digital Literacy”. On the first day of the NSS annual residential camp, Monday 6 January 2025, the NSS program officer along with all 50 volunteers arrived at Zilla Parishad School Minghari at 1 pm and prepared the planning for the second day’s program.

Tuesday 7 January 2025 was the inauguration day of the annual residential camp. After waking up at 5 am and completing the morning ritual, the NSS volunteers drew a very beautiful rangoli, decorated the discussion forum and the NSS program officer formed 5 groups of volunteers and gave responsibility to the groups and they did their work according to their responsibility.

The inauguration of this residential camp was presided over by the Secretary of the Bhartiya Shikshan Santha, Nawargaon, Hon. Sadanand Borkar Sir. The inaugural program began at 12 noon by hoisting the NSS flag and singing the NSS song. Hon. Dr. Ganpat Deshmukh Sir, Officiating Principal, Mahatma Gandhi College Nagbhid was present as the inaugurator of this inaugural program and he inaugurated the program and guided the students about NSS. Hon. Vinit Dahivale, Upsarpanch of Gram Panchayat Minghari, who was present as the second chief guest of this program, inspired the students and guided them by awakening their enthusiasm. After the inauguration ceremony, the dignitaries present as well as NSS volunteers enjoyed delicious food.

On the same day, an scholastic program was organized at 8 pm. Social educator Hon. Vinit Dahivale, uparpanch of Gram Panchayat Minghari was present as the chief guest of this scholastic program. He gave a very beautiful and informative guidance on the topic “Role of Students in Rural Development”. Hon. Dr. Lalit Ujede, Professor Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya Nawargaon presided over the program and guided our volunteers. After this program, everyone present had a delicious meal and after the meal, 5 group leaders and 1 OD were democratically selected to prepare for the program to be held on the next day and they were given the responsibility of their work.

On the third day of the NSS residential camp, i.e. Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 6 am, we went to Gurudev Seva Mandir Minghari to practice yoga and exercise. Hon. Saurabh Guru, actor, writer and singer, explained the nuances of yoga and exercise to the volunteers and they did it in person. After the exercise, between 7.30 am and 8.00 am, NSS officers and volunteers had breakfast. Between 8 am and 11 am, roads and drains were cleaned through Shramdaan in Minghari village. Between 11 am and 2.30 pm, food was taken and rest was taken.

An intellectual program was organized between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm. The chief guest of this intellectual program was Hon. Radhika Gaikwad Madam PSI Police Station Sindewahi and she gave very detailed information and guidance on the topic of “Cyber ​​Crime and Wise Use of Social Media” with examples. The second chief guest Hon. Dr. Shital Hanumante Madam RH Sindewahi gave a very beautiful explanation on the topic of “Mental Health”. This intellectual program was presided over by Mrs. Geeta Sonwane Madam, Professor of Shri Dyanesh College.

During the question and answer session based on the program held throughout the day from 4.30 to 6.00, Mrs. Geeta Sonawane Madam was present and asked questions to the volunteers and tried to get their answers. In this session, different games were played according to the groups. This boosted the confidence of the volunteers. A gathering and review meeting of the volunteers was held between 6 and 7.30 in the evening. In this, the group leader of each group gave a review of the difficulties, inconveniences and problems encountered during the program held throughout the day. The OD also gave a review of the work done during the day. During this, the group leader and OD were selected democratically to organize the second day’s program. Later, everyone enjoyed a delicious meal together. After the meal, a cultural program that was everyone’s favorite was organized between 9 and 10. Every group participated in this. The people of Minghari village were in a big crowd for this program. After this, the day’s program was concluded with prayers and immersion of lamps.

The fourth day of the NSS camp is Thursday, January 9, 2025. As usual, Saurabh Guru started the yoga practice and exercise by waking up at 5 am, followed by prayers and singing inspirational songs from 6 to 7.30 am. After the exercise, all the volunteers had snacks and tea. On this day, between 8 and 11 am, all the volunteers went to the crematorium in Minghari village for labor rituals. 5 groups were allotted a place for cleanliness in the crematorium. In the allotted place, the volunteers prepared saws in such a way that water would accumulate on the trees. The entire crematorium was cleaned. After returning from there, the volunteers had a bath and a delicious meal. Meanwhile, a team of doctors from PHC Nawargaon took blood samples of the NSS volunteers to test CBC, Hemoglobin, kidney test, liver test, thyroid, HIV and hepatitis B and given their report after 5 days. All the tests cost Rs. 2 thousand. All tests were conducted free of cost for NSS volunteers through this residential camp.

Between 2.30 to 4.30 pm, Vishal Salkar RFO Sindewahi gave detailed guidance on the topic of “Role of Students in Environmental Conservation” in the intellectual programs. This program was presided over by Dr. Astik Mungmode Sir, Professor of Shri Dnyanesh College. After the intellectual program, all the volunteers went to Minghari village for a survey. Group discussions and questions and answers were conducted based on that survey. From 6 to 7.30 pm, a review meeting of the day’s program was held by assembling the volunteers. After the meeting, the new group leader and the new OD were elected democratically. Later, everyone enjoyed the food. At 9 pm, Gondi dance, drama, and singing were presented by NSS volunteers in the cultural programs. The day ended with prayers and lamp immersion.

The fifth day of the NSS camp was Friday, January 10, 2025. Like every day, the wake-up call was held at 5 am. All the volunteers freshened up and got ready at 6 am. The day started with prayers and singing inspirational songs. Then exercises and yoga were done. Between 7 am and 8 am, everyone enjoyed refreshments and tea and went to the cremation ground at Minghari for the Shram Sanskar. This day work was a little harder than the two days before. Because 80 pits had to be dug in the harder land and trees were planted. The NSS volunteers did this work very easily and planted 80 saplings in the cremation ground. They took a bath, had a delicious meal and rested from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm.

The main speaker of the intellectual program of the day was Hon. Prof. Bhalchandra Lode, NSS Chandrapur District Coordinator, guided the topic of “National Service Scheme and Youth” in a very playful atmosphere through songs, powadas, and abhangas. This program was presided over by Dr. Umesh Indurkar Sir, Professor of Shri Dnyanesh College.

Between 4.30 and 7.30 pm, all the volunteers went to Minghari village for a survey. The volunteers were gathered in a review meeting to discuss the activities being implemented in the village, their benefits, as well as what new activities should be implemented, the problems in the village and how they can be solved. Later, between 7.30 and 8.30 pm, everyone enjoyed the food. Today’s food was from the Mali community of Minghari village. A cultural program was presented between 9 and 10 pm. The people of the village responded spontaneously to this program. Later, the day was concluded by offering prayers and lighting the lamp.

The next day of the camp is Saturday, January 10, 2025. The concluding day of the NSS residential camp. As usual, all the volunteers woke up in the morning, then freshened up and gathered for exercise and yoga and practiced yoga. After refreshments and tea, a “Samaj Prabodhan Par Janajagran Rally” was taken out from 8 to 11 am. In this rally, street plays were presented on the themes of My Vasundhara, Digital Literacy, Eradication of Superstitions, Judicious Use of Water, Open Defecation Free Village, Plant Trees and Save Trees, etc. Public awareness was created through slogans. The closing ceremony of the NSS camp was held between 12 and 2.30 pm. The opening and introduction of the closing ceremony was done by Principal Dr. Amrut Lanje. In the closing ceremony, Dr. Hemantkumar Meshram, NSS Program Officer, Shri Dyanesh Mahavidyalaya Navargaon, read out the report of the annual residential camp. The chief guide of this closing ceremony, Hon. Dr. Janabandhu Meshram Sir, retired professor, Sarvodaya Mahavidyalaya Sindewahi, was also present. He guided the NSS volunteers. Hon. Sukhdev Patil Anande, member of Bharatiya Shikshan Sanstha, Navargaon, presided over the closing ceremony. This program was beautifully coordinated by NSS volunteer Rajan Lanjewar. In the closing ceremony, 2 excellent volunteers and 1 excellent OD were honored with memento. Professor Ravindra Deulwar thanked the closing ceremony as well as the entire 7-day residential camp. Finally, the program was concluded by the NSS flag being hoisted by the chairman of the concluding program, and the NSS goal song and the national anthem were sung. Immediately after the concluding program, the dignitaries present, invited people from the village, employees of Shri Dnyanesh College and all the volunteers enjoyed a delicious meal.

On Sunday, January 12, 2025, everyone woke up in the morning, had breakfast and tea and prepared for the departure of the camp. All the belongings were disposed of properly, the entire school premises and classrooms were cleaned and the camp was departed at 12 noon.
