Objectives of Activity

1. To try to give a social message through Rangoli competitions for volunteers who are interested in the art of colors and lines.
2. To inform students about nature and snakes.
3. To clear the misconceptions about snakes among students of rural and agricultural backgrounds and guide them regarding various scientific measures against snake bites.
4. To guide the students in order to remove the superstitions about snakes.

On behalf of the National Service Scheme Department of Shri Dnyanesh College, National Service Scheme Week was organized on the occasion of ‘National Service Scheme Day’ from 24th to 30th September 2023. Various programs were planned in such weeks from previous year to shape the personality of volunteers participating in National Service Scheme, to give scope to their talents.
On the first day of this week first activity was organised on Sunday, 24th September 2023 in the morning from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 pm. Social awareness Rangoli competition and public awareness lecture on snake science were organized in collaboration with Zep Nisarga Mandal. Pawan Nagre, Ghrishneshwar Borkar, and Vikas Borkar guided the students in the study of snakes and the environment. The principal of the college Dr. Suresh Bakare was present on this occasion. Dr. Gajanan Kortalwar, Program Officer of the National Service Scheme elaborated the overall role of the program. The program was coordinated by Jyotsna Mandale, a volunteer student. Hemant Meshram, co-programme officer, presented the vote of thanks. Most of the students of the college as well as volunteers of the National Service Scheme were present on this occasion.

Outcomes / Outputs of Activity

1. Scientific information about illustrated snakes was given to the students so the students were satisfied.
2. Various prejudices and misconceptions about snakes were dispelled in this lecture.
3. Students were convinced about the importance of snakes in nature and the environment.
4. Students drew beautiful Rangoli based on various concepts related to superstition, addiction, and environment.
