Objectives of Activity

  1. The main goal was to merge the princely state of Hyderabad with the Indian Union.
  2. To stop the autocratic rule of the Nizam, who was reluctant to join India.
  3. To prevent Hyderabad from becoming a separate state or a potential threat to India’s security.

On the occasion of NSS week on September 23, 2025, NSS Department of Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawargaon, Tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his Unity and Leadership  and honoring the Iron Man of India, whose vision and leadership played a crucial role in unifying the country after independence. The event included a brief talk on Patel’s life, his contributions to the integration of princely states, and his legacy as a statesman committed to national unity by the chief guest Mr. Swapnil Borkar.

Further the chief guest on this occasion also highlighted Operation Polo, the military operation in 1948 that led to the integration of Hyderabad into the Indian Union. Students were informed about Patel’s strategic planning and decisive action that ensured the smooth merger of Hyderabad without compromising the nation’s sovereignty.The celebration concluded with students paying homage to Sardar Patel, reflecting on the importance of unity, patriotism, and responsible citizenship. The event not only marked a historical remembrance but also inspired the younger generation to uphold the values of courage, determination, and national service.

The program was organized and coducted by the NSS Program Officer, Dr. Hemant Meshram, while the vote of thanks was given by Program Co-Officer, Prof. Durgesh Kshirsagar. This Orientation program was attended by a large number of faculty members of the college as well as NSS volunteers.

Outcomes / Outputs of Activity

  1. Hyderabad was integrated into the Indian Union in September 1948.
  2. The Nizam surrendered, and democratic governance replaced autocratic rule.
  3. Communal violence and Razakar activities were suppressed.
