The National Service Scheme (NSS) Department celebrated World Tourism Day with great enthusiasm on 27th September 2025 at Shri Dnyanesh College, Nawargaon. The main theme of the day this year was “Tourism and Sustainable Development”.
The program began with the chief guest of the program, Dr. Hemantkumar Meshram, NSS Program Officer, garlanding the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. After the welcome, chief guest explained the importance of World Tourism Day. He explained the interrelationship between tourism and environmental conservation to the students. He expressed his views on the economic, social and cultural importance of tourism, the role of tourism in local employment generation, and the need to preserve India’s historical and natural heritage. He also informed the students about the career opportunities in the tourism sector and expressed his gratitude. He gave informative presentations on famous tourist destinations in India as well as the world. These included Taj Mahal, Ajanta-Verul, Konark Sun Temple, Goa beaches as well as international destinations like Paris, Dubai, Pyramids of Egypt, etc.
Lecturer Ravindra Deulwar, NSS Program Officer, in his introduction, said that tourism is not just a means of entertainment but also an effective medium for social cohesion, cultural exchange and sustainable development. Faculty, staff and a large number of students were present for this program. The initiative was successfully completed due to the active participation of NSS volunteers.
