___About the Department___

 

It has been around fifty years since the Department of Physical Education and Sports was established in Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya. Department is having Dr Manoj Armarkar working as director since 21st March 2014. The department has been involved in various team level and individual sports at the institutes level. The department organizes university level sports viz Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, volley ball, Girls and Boys games in the institute every year. The institutes’ team won the first place in the Kabaddi in boys category at the university level in the year 2015 and in the year 2018, Kho Kho boys has got the first place at the university level. The institutes’ students has also achieved success in triple jump, high jump, running and sprint running in athletics. The institute has received a total of 17 color holders from the year 2014 till date. Our institutes’ students have represented Gondwana University in sports by visiting various universities. Institutes’ students have achieved success in sub-junior athletics. The department has also organized university level, national level and international level workshops and seminars. institutes’ students participates in various university level sports every year as per the rules of the university. Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June every year by the Department of Physical education and Sports. The topic of environmental protection has been read in the organization of an international seminar in the session 2020 21. Exercise schools are run by the department to inculcate regular exercise habits in students. There are various playgrounds in the institute. It has kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball, badminton, basket-ball. In addition to outdoor sports indoor games like table tennis, chess and carrom are also available. There is a 200 meter running track. Every year a physical examination and medical examination is done by the department. The department also encourages students to join a gymnassium available in the institutes’ premises.
