Research and Publication Plagiarism Policy
- Purpose
This policy establishes standards for the ethical conduct of research and publication at Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawargaon, ensuring integrity, originality, and accountability in all academic work. The aim is to foster a scholarly environment where faculty, researchers, and students uphold the highest standards of academic honesty, avoiding plagiarism and acknowledging original contributions.
- Scope
This policy applies to all research outputs, publications, thesis submissions, academic presentations, and collaborative projects conducted under the auspices of Shri Dnyanesh Mahavidyalaya, Nawargaon.
- Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the presentation of another’s work, ideas, data, or words as one’s own without proper attribution. This includes:
- Direct copying or uncredited paraphrasing of others’ work.
- Inappropriate use of ideas, findings, or concepts from published or unpublished sources.
- Failing to cite sources or acknowledge collaborative input accurately.
- Guidelines and Expectations
- Originality: All research and publications must be the original work of the author(s). Proper credit and citations are mandatory for all referenced works, data, and ideas.
- Proper Attribution: All sources, including direct quotes, paraphrased ideas, and reproduced data, must be cited accurately following recognized citation standards.
- Self-Plagiarism: Authors must avoid reusing their previously published work without explicit disclosure and citation.
- Plagiarism Detection and Evaluation
All submitted work (e.g., research papers, theses) will undergo plagiarism screening using standard detection software to ensure originality.
A maximum similarity index of 40% is allowed following the revision in the script. Content exceeding this threshold will be reviewed, and authors may face a cancellation of registration.
- Consequences of Plagiarism
Minor Offenses (e.g., unintentional citation errors): Authors will be asked to correct the work, with guidance provided on proper citation.
Major Offenses (e.g., substantial text similarity, intentional misrepresentation): Cases will be reviewed by a committee, and disciplinary actions may include revocation of publications, suspension of research privileges, or other penalties as determined by the institution.
